I can't speak about today. In the 70s & 80s, Marfreless was a magical and unique place to go to unwind after work and gather to have dinner with friends. (NOTE: I am positive the men didn't think of it as "magical".) I was one of the first patrons in 1972. Brant Williams was one of the first owners - Brant figured he would "save money" if he owned Marfreless and was guaranteed to have his special wine. A few of us were Brant's neighbors living at Hillside on Memorial. There were pillows on the floor in cozy corners. It reminded me of another favorite place near Greenwich Village in NYC - dark room with no pillows on the floor with a very special ambience.
